Meet in the car park opposite the Derwentwater Arms in Calver Sough at 7.00pm. Optional food (£5 per head) in the Derwentwater Arms afterwards.
Please note: if you are not intending to visit the pub after the walk please park on the road outside as the car park is for pub customers only.
This 3.5 mile walk will look at the mines of the Calver Peak area, where mining for lead and fluorspar stretches from the medieval period through to the 20th century.
It will visit the site of Calver Sough Engine, Muse Mine, Red Rake and Catsall Rake, and the tail of Brightside Sough. Moderate grade – some ascents and descents, but none are particularly steep.
All welcome – no pre-booking required.
