June 6th – Mining Heritage Walk in The High Tor/Matlock Dale area

Tuesday June 6th 2017. Meet at 7.15pm.

Meet 7.15pm Matlock Bath Railway Station car park (Pay & Display).

A short, circular walk, to look at the site of Riber Mine at Starkholmes, the Fern & Roman Caves on High Tor, Youd’s Level (Ringing Rake Sough), the site of the suspension bridge over River Derwent, High Tor Grotto, Side Mine and Long Tor Grotto – all in Matlock Dale. Note: Paul plans to bring some old photos of Riber Mine (surface & underground) when in operation and also, surveys, etc of the various other mines mentioned. 
Bring usual walking gear. Party size not limited – booking optional. 

Walk is weather dependent. Optional drink afterwards at the Midland Hotel, Matlock Bath.
